Yes I feel that the goverment should help with clean needle exchange. The more people that do not contact diseases that are expesnsive to treat the better. Some of them may also decide to get off drugs which would be wonderful for them. The cost to the goverment is minimal compared to the cost of treating someone with HIV or Hepatitis C.
I have worked in the medical field for many years and have seen people suffer from these diseases. I think that it would be better to try to prevent the disease than to treat something that can never be cured.
Watching people waste away is no fun, and that is just what happens to these sick people. We should try to help the get off drugs and if needle exchange helps I am all for it.
