Americans' #1 Resolution for 2007 was to lose weight and get in shape. Yet, some statistics show that over 95% of all diets fail. So, when you find something that really works, you naturally want to share it with others.
Weight loss is all about thermogenesis. Put simply, that is how our bodies convert food and calories into energy. Helping your body convert food into energy rather than storing it as fat is VITAL to weight management.
Here are a few "secrets" I have learned:
(1) Do NOT skip meals, especially breakfast. You want to jump-start your metabolism early and keep it going throughout your day.
(2) Whey protein acts like jumper cables for your metabolism. It is the most powerful fat-burning food you can eat. Amino acids found in whey protein also help to trim fat from the surface of your muscle, creating a leaner, more defined look. Find a good high-protein meal replacement drink for your breakfast. They are quick, convenient and the best way to fire-up your metabolism in the morning. You will be surprised how much effect doing just this one thing will have on your weight management. But, make sure it is a good, high-quality whey protein drink.
(3) Do NOT go more than 4 hours without eating, as this will trigger your metabolism to shut down. Ideally, you want to eat something every 2 hours.
(4) If you are having trouble controling your appetite, the natural herbs oolong tea and sage have been shown to be helpful with both metabolism and appetite control.
(5) Proper digestion and elimination are essential to weight control. As the saying goes, "If you can't move it, you can't lose it." Probiotics, taken along with high fiber foods/supplements work wonders with this.
(6) The dreaded "E" word. Yes, exercise is important. Find something that you enjoy doing and go enjoy yourself for 30-60 minutes several times a week.
