Should hate speech be tolerated?
My answer to this question is: Yes. Hate speech is plain and simply part of our freedom to speak. Our founding fathers decided this and any action of silencing anyone is known as suppression. One of the answers I read from the opposition was: "...After all fire breeds more fire. If you want someone to hear you their really is no reason to be nasty about it sometimes just simply walking away will put the individual on notice to check their own actions.-Lisa Glover" Yes this might be true in human to human relations. Though to not tolerate someone who is trying to send a message is shunning that person. Whether this person is sending a pro- or anti- message to his LISTENERS(yep just like this person stated you can just walk away), it is essential that we remain non-biased and do our own filtering. The moment we start "not tolerating" any individual's freedom of speech, as a people, will be the day when someone is telling us how to filter the knowledge we receive and not ourselves.
