How to design effective business cards

Business cards can still be a very effective marketing tool, if they are designed well and utilized. A well designed business card is one with an easily readable font. The name of the business should be on a larger font than the rest of the information and in bold. The text should be properly aligned with equal spacing between lines. Another important thing to remember is to put your company logo on your card if you have one.

Don't get too carried away with design. A white, cream, or light gray background with a dark colored type is always classy and effective. If you can afford to have extras like thermal printing, and can afford a nice card stock, this is an added plus as well.

Another important aspect is information. Always include multiple ways to be contacted including an email address, office phone, cell phone, and fax if you have one. If your company has a website (as most do) it's a good idea to include this on your business card and also a company slogan or brief sentence about your company (what you do, your motto, goals, etc.)

The best looking business card will not be effective if not used! Always make sure to take your business cards with you on trips, to meetings, out golfing etc. Keep some with you at your desk at all times as well.

A nice business card with pertinent information can be very effective and go along way in promoting yourself or your business.
