Free things to do in Paris, France

Paris is a truly beautiful city and what it offers any tourist or traveler is something that no-one can put a price on, which is spelled out pretty accurately with one word, ambiance. It's a city of contrasts, though with a little savvy, the traveler can make the most of the city without expense, though should be prepared to take the walking experience of their lives, soaking in the different aspects of Paris and all it has to offer even those of humble means.

Planning a trip to Paris can be an expense in itself, though if taking the whole experience into account in the planning stages, there really is so much to see that can be seen within easy walking distance by arranging to arrive at a central point like Monparnasse station in the heart of the City. From Monparnasse station, planning out a route of the City in advance is quite a good idea, although never being rigid to a plan is a better notion, since there is a wealth of discovery to be made off the beaten track, and it is advisable only to use the plan as main points to be heading for, in order not to get lost. At Monparnasse station, little kiosks give the tourist free maps of the city metro system and even if your expenses will not allow metro travel, the detail of the map is sufficient to get you around the city without becoming lost.

From Monparnasse, the road is an easy walk towards the Gardens of Luxemburg, which are free to visit, and offer an ambiance amongst statues and greenery, flowers and shrubs for the traveler to pause and soak in the ambiance of Paris. Even on a wintry day, the gardens hold delight in that the architectural interest of the buildings around this area and leading down to the law-courts is structurally amazing, and photo opportunities wait for the visitor a short stroll from the park itself.

After a small break in this area, taking the road that leads towards the center of the City and covering an equal distance as from Monparnasse to the Gardens of Luxemburg, the traveler is taken through streets of wealth, where cafes line the pavements, and reaches the River Seine where a photo opportunity will allow them to take photographs along the river in both directions, towards Notre Dame and The Garden of Plants, which is again free to visit, and makes an ideal stopping off point for the visitor to rest their weary feet.

Many of the Museums in this area do charge for entry, though the areas that are accessible for free more than compensate for the shortfall
