Yes, trust is very important but I have learned that trusting MYSELF is the key to making wise choices in relationships.
How many times have you heard someone say "I knew not to trust him/her"?
We always know in our "knower" whether someone is trustworthy or not but we override that little all too often. Why? because WE talk ourselves out of it.
We say things like:
I shouldn't think that about him/her I am being too judgmental with my first impressions
Well, I know my friend said they really hurt the last person they were involved with but gosh, they seem so genuine. That will never happen to me.
I have GOT to quit being so judgmental with people at this rate I will never get married!
The great thing is though even if we ignore that small warning, we will get two or three dozen more. If we STILL ignore it then we will surely learn a life lesson and not repeat it again with the next relationship!
I have learned that even when a person proves not to be trustworthy I can trust myself to recover. I trust myself to know that this is just a turn in the road of life and I can trust myself to quickly get back on path!
