Running is one of the best exercises you can do. Running can increase your endurance. It can also make you faster. It is also great because it is done for fun, sports, and also to get in shape; but the best thing about running is it comes with many exceptional health benefits.
One health benefit from running is in an area that America is really struggling with, being overweight. Running is one of the greatest exercises to do because is a full body workout, though it doesn't seem like it when you watch someone run. Running obviously is a great way to increase your leg strength, but it also works out your shoulders, neck muscles, and your abs. When you run your arms and your legs or pumping, which is strengthening and conditioning both of those areas, but you are also holding your elbows in and your forearms up and pumping back and forth in stride with your legs. Holding the muscles in your arms up while running is what works out your shoulders. Your neck gets a workout when you run and you look out in front of you, not looking at the ground. When you are looking straight out to the horizon the muscles in your neck become stronger because they are keeping your head up as you run. Your abs also get worked hard when you run. The reason for this is when your arms and legs are pumping up and down and forward, your abs are stabilizing your body and keeping you on your feet, you faster and harder you run the more your abs work, therefore getting stronger and also burning fat.
Running is one of the best exercises you can do to burn fat. This reason was stated in the preceding paragraph, because it is a total body workout. The more areas that are targeted when you workout, the more fat you burn. Running uses every muscle in your body, even your back muscles to keep you straight. By using every muscle when running you maximize the amount of fat and calories that your body is burning to run. Calories provide energy but if they are not used they turn into fat. With that said the calories you eat are energy, so you need to use and burn that energy before in turns into fat cells and is stored in your body, the best way to do that is by running.
Running is great because it can help prevent some diseases and illnesses, like diabetes. Running is often caused from being to fat and having a too high of blood sugar. Running will burn the calories from sugar and will help you lose weight, which can help prevent diabetes from ever occurring. If you already have diabetes running can help maintain and keep it under control, preventing it from getting worse by burning excess calories and fat in your body, that way your blood sugar can't get too high and out of control, but you also can't let it dip to low.
Another health benefit you get from running can be used in your everyday activities, which is a healthy respiratory system and great lungs. When you run you are increasing your stamina, which improves your breathing capabilities and lung capacity. Having healthy lungs allows you to do your normal everyday activities from your job to yard work to walking the dog much more efficiently. By running you will be in much better shape which makes everything you do in a life a little bit easier.
