Islamic feminism could better be described as "secularist Islam" or "non-Islamic feminism". This is a bold statement and I fully realize the raised brows I might be inviting but read on, let me explain.
Islam is opposed to women's freedom, whether it is sexual, aesthetic or judicial freedom. Women suffer under the heavy hand of Islamic patriarchal teachings in Islamic countries and most don't even realize the true concept of freedom.

For instance, marriage in Islam is virtually impossible in Islam without a virgin girl but for men this may mean more than one; in fact, up to 4 women can marry a single man. Now although Islamic texts, such as the Quran, give no reason for this practice, reputed Islamic scholars tell us that this is a logical custom. Some of them say that there are more women in the world than men when in fact there are not. They say there is an overpopulation of women in Islamic countries when, in reality, there are more men in most of the large Islamic states like Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan etcetera.
Now let's look at judicial laws that hinder women. Women are not allowed to inherit as much as men, depriving them of their innate rights. Four female witnesses to a rape are required to convict a rapist when only a single man is required. This whole practice is ridiculous if you look at it; how often is a rape witnessed (8 out of 10 rapes are committed by family and friends of the victim).
Women must not show their faces or "ornaments" (or even wear clothes that are suggestive) in front of non-family members. Recently, a high ranking Islamic cleric issued a fatwah (religious order) that made female workers allow males to suckle at her breast so that they may be considered family and therefore allowed to view her face at work. Thankfully this law was retracted because Muslims found it ridiculous.
After seeing what Muslim "women's rights" means I consider it impossible for a Muslim women to truly be a feminist and a practicing Allah fearing Muslim at the same time. These two causes are opposed and incompatible.
