Las Vegas, who many consider the city of sin, has something for everyone, much of which has nothing to do with sin. What I find the most interesting about this glimmering city is their successful attempt at bringing the world to one small, relatively speaking, place called "The Strip".If you resist the urge to park it at a blackjack table you can experience, during a three day weekend, world class shopping, dining and entertainment.
Vegas is a 24 hour a day city but this adult playground is at it's best after dark. If it were me and I only had two or three days to enjoy the Vegas experience, I would suggest that you turn your days and nights around and sleep while the sun is shining.
Las Vegas has changed considerably since the sixties and seventies when buffets were a $1.99 and for a mere $15.00 you could catch a midnight show. Be prepared for the Vegas of the 21st century where a $10.00 glass of wine is commonplace and a show ticket will set you back a hundred dollars or more. Since your budget will more than likely limit what you can see or do, if it were me, I would spend the majority of that budget on the shows, such as those found at Treasure Island and the MGM Grand. I would bypass barhopping since you can do that at home but the entertainment offered on the strip is like nothing you will ever see again. At the top of a long list, my choice are the shows of Cirque du Soleil, which is French for "Circus of the Sun". Yes, the price of admission is high but well worth the cost. If this suits your fancy, I would recommend making reservations in advance since all of these shows sell out every night.
If money, or the lack thereof, is a real issue, you can still have a good time by taking advantage of the free stuff. The "Fremont Street Experience", a dazzling light show in the downtown area, is a must see for anyone, especially those on a budget. Circus Circus provides free circus acts through-out the day but checking out the many themed hotel casinos is perhaps the best bang for your buck.
All of this aside, to really enjoy a short stay, research all that Vegas has to offer before your trip. Vegas is a magical but manic town that can have you spinning in circles. Make your choices and stick to some kind of schedule. Otherwise, you will find yourself returning home only to realize how much you missed.
