The Vicious
As a human being, I clearly understand my place within the natural scheme of things. That is, my responsibility is to understand and creatively deal with other human beings within the societal schemata and should I venture to the woods, I must be aware of the potential animal dangers. When it comes to animals, within the context of society, there are sets of codes which local governments have in place to see to it that a standard of civilization exists. It is not my responsibility to learn of the various mood swings of animals which can eat me at any given moment, within society. That is, I am free of the pull toward primal instincts and can think in a higher realm.
I have however, on several occasions, faced dangerous situations with pitbulls. I was not in their territory and I had done nothing to incite their aggressive behaviors. Did they sense that I don't like them or respect them and felt I deserved to have the flesh torn off my back? Well, there's some highly evolved reason for me to be the pitbull's friend.
There are some controversial issues, which are controversial for a reason. That is, those with reason realize that if they are sucked into the "it's okay, only badly raised pitbulls are dangerous" scenario, they are actually committing negligent homicide everytime a child is attacked and killed by one of these dangerous animals.
Philosophically, morally, legally and in reality, free roaming pit bulls are potential crimes and expecting people to understand and second guess the behavior of a dog is insane.
We must realize that human beings err and in that erring sometimes, people get hurt or killed. Why up the odds by proclaiming the pitbull man's best friend? Should we put Great White sharks in the city swimming pool and train kids how to not be eaten by them? How many sacrificial deaths would it take?
It is beyond me why I should be expected to esteem a dog which is capable of and often does attack human beings. These dogs are loathesome creatures which have no value to society and I think that people who own pitbulls should be fined severely, just for these animals getting loose and roaming the streets. When they maul and or kill, I think the pitbull owners should be charged with a crime.
There are human beings doing despicable things and American freedom seems to foster their insidiousness, but I am not going to esteem a pitbull over a human being. This is absolute insanity and it undermines intellectual and emotional evolution.
