If you have a cat and are worried about which plants are poisionous/toxic to your cat you have ever right. The majority of plants all of us have in the garden can be extremely toxic to your feline friend, this also includes many indoor houseplants.
The most common is the Lily, now this includes any species of Lily in any shape or form and don't forget you don't have to have them in the garden, even if they are indoor in a flower arrangement or vase, if your cat get's near them and consumes anything it can be lethal. Other familiar everyday plants that come into the toxic range and which no doubt most of us do have are the following:- Buttercups, Rhubarb, Lily of the Valley, Daffodills, Tulips, Cornflowers, Bleeding Hearts, Geraniums, Fuschias, Lupin, Honeysuckle and the list goes on and is endless. Indoors plants such as the Poinsietta can be lethal if ingested.
Now I have had cats for many years, over 30 and never has one been ill from ingesting a plant. Now I must say and I hate doing so, that at one time or another I must have had all of the above plants in my garden, in actual fact I do have some in my garden now from the above list. I personally think that cats are far too intelligent to go around eating plants that are poisionous to them. Also another point to consider is that unless you have a House Cat, your cat is going to go off wandering into a vicinity near to your house where anybody and everybody has probably got every plant poisionous to a Cat in their gardens and you can't stop them going into them. So for me, although yes I do have some of these plants in my garden, Cats are free spirits you cannot watch every move they make and I think that with their intelligence also comes wiseness which is why you don't often hear of a cat being poisioned from a plant.
