How SHOULD I eat... well, it's definitely not how many I WANT to eat! Calorie intake varies by your activity level, but a general number that people are familiar with is less or around 2000 calories a day.
Of course, you should talk to your Doctor to see what number is right for you, but here are few great numbers and ideas you can take away with you.
3500 calories is all it takes to gain a pound. Yikes! I eat that in one take out meal! But, at least you can find out how many calories you've burned doing 'every day tasks' with free online calorie calculators. Just type that into a search engine.
I was told (and again this will vary from person to person) to eat three 500 calorie meals, and two 100 calorie snacks. That equals out to a healthy balance of what I burn, and what I should intake.
Overall though, just pay attention to what you're making and when you feel full. Calories are just a number, but then again, so is weight.
