The mental benefits of jogging

Forget all the advice and complications of dealing with a hectic life for just half an hour of the day and you'll see your problems in a whole new aura. Set this time aside for you and you alone, no pets, no spouses and no work. You can do it early in the morning as the mist is making way for the new day or at sunset when the fervor is settling in for the night. The time is irrelevant, the independence is everything.
It's a liberating feeling, that first step on the road and initial influx of fresh oxygenated air into your lungs. The settling of your rhythm in step with your breathing and oscillations of your mind is something otherworldly. Mentally, a runner is drained of anxiety, it is virtually impossible to be up tight during a run without letting the pressure drain sulkily away. Fresh thoughts, along with fresh air and movement, flow naturally into the runner's mind.
I often refer to my run as my track therapy, as opposed to couch therapy. There is no other way I know of to clear unwanted apprehensions and unfulfilled desires. It is truly an escape from all that is material and worldly into simplicity of action, motive and need.
