Most people do not look for the beauty and power in the world around us. In a busy life there is not much time to spend looking around for things that most do not even believe in. But, once you start noticing it, you will see power and beauty everywhere around you.
Sitting in my back yard watching the breeze blow through the clothes I have hanging on the clothesline, I revel in the magic of the wind. It comes through my yard bringing with it the smells and particles of other places. The wind makes my clothes smell wonderful. When my closet is full of clothing that had dried outside, my entire bedroom smells of the outdoors. When my bed linens have been hung out to dry on the clothesline, the atmosphere of outdoor freshness envelops the entire room.
The wind cools us on hot days. It blows in rain showers that are needed for our gardens to grow. Trees show their enjoyment of the wind by dancing with it as it moves through their branches and leaves. Like any other element, wind can be dangerous. In the form of a tornado or hurricane the wind can be deadly. But, that is part of nature. There is still wondrous beauty in a gentle breeze or a stronger windstorm.
There is also beauty and magic in a rainstorm. Listening to a gentle rain pattering against the windows or roof of your home is one of the most relaxing moments in life. There is great beauty in watching the rain fall upon a flowerbed. Seeing the raindrops fall softly onto the petals of a flower reminds you of the gentleness of nature.
But, once again, this element can be deadly. A hard rainstorm can damage many plants beyond the capability to recover. Flowers and garden plants can be broken from a heavy damaging rainfall. Crops can be ruined by a torrential downpour of rain. However, beauty and magic can still be found in the summer rain.
Most plants reach for the sun as they grow. They reach, but never quite touch, the heat and light of the sun's rays. People also love to be in the sun. This can be seen in just about any town if you go to the public swimming pools and beaches. You will see people enjoying the sun in many different ways.
As with all elements, the sun can be dangerous. It can cause drought conditions to be devastating to many crops. It can damage individual plants. It can also be damaging to people. From a mild case of sunburn to a major case of skin cancer, the sun can show its power.
In my opinion, there is nothing more peaceful than the world blanketed by freshly fallen snow. This is especially true if you are able to observe this phenomenon at night. Even in areas where there is a lot of noise, there is a certain peace to be found on a cold winter's night when there is snow falling.
Snow can show its power in quiet and subtle ways. It can bury a home, leaving the occupants stranded. It can collect on power lines and cause them to break. It can collect on the roofs of houses and cause them to collapse. There is much potential damage that can come from snow. But, when it falling gently onto an already white expanse, it is one of the most beautiful things in nature.
There are so many beautiful things in nature. It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and pass these things by. But, if you just take a second or two, you can become part of a very beautiful and powerful environment that we all take for granted.
