Searching for a Word

What denotes belief, to believe without
a dubious fault? Is it within the struggles
of the heart, to give up a controlling pride?
I look at him and hope to trust, for weary
bones cannot provide a healthy diet.
Communication is without speech. He
reads my thought like the evening paper.
I scatter to finish a crossword puzzle.
I once saw his throne and finally believed
his outlandish notion that he is a king.
But he is the man across the room, in my
presence, in the public spaces of a private
heart.
It's comforting to know that I'm not alone,
Lost in a busy world with nothing but busy
words. But here I am: the one he loves
doing a crossword.
He knows the answer.
