There is biblical support for dating, so long as you understand that "dating" is not a term that would have been used back then.
Dating, then, is the "search" for the one God intends for you. Matthew Ch 7:7-8 instructs Christians to: 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
And Proverbs 31:10-31 reiterates that a search must commence for you to find the treasure of your true love, God's intended. Verse 10 says: "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."
Dating is not defined in the Bible, but we should define dating today according to what is written in the Bible. That is to say, dating should not mean living together, going "parking" or to a hotel/motel/back alley...and dating should not merely be one night stands at the local honky tonk or disco club, nor should it be something which you do (dating steadily) or singularly (accepting one or two dates) without prayer and much consideration.
Why? Because dating, like most actions, is a serious matter that can lead to sin, but, if not taken lightly, it can lead to a happy marriage held together with God's love and direction.
Just remember, dating should not be a sexual relationship, according to the Bible. While you can search for a virtuous person to be your spouse, and dating allows time to confirm that the search can be declared a true treasure find, the Bible is clear that it is better to marry than to live together or maintain a sexual relationship. But it's left to interpretation just what is meant by "burn" mentioned in 1 Corinthians 7:9 says "But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn."
