acts.
The commander had a smile on his face as he prepared to speak words that even he could not believe.
"Yes", he said with a note of joy in his words, "None survived. But there is much more important and exciting news".
"Well?", said Tobias, impatiently.
" The reason that that place was so heavily guarded was that it was their base of operations. Your son finally revealed the meaning of that infernal crystal"
Tobias knew exactly what he meant. Recently, his son had told him that he had found a crystal that would 'suit his purposes'. When Tobias asked what these were, Jack simply said 'the end of the War of the Birthright'. The war was so named because the Mystics maintained that the Gods told them that it was their destiny to claim the world for their own. If this crystal was to mean the end, Tobias felt need to question his son further, but his secretive son merely stated 'All will soon be revealed, don't worry'
"Would you like to know?", asked the commander impatiently, jarring Tobias from his thoughts.
"Oh... Of course", Tobias excitedly said.
"Well then", said the commander, "wouldn't you like to hear it from your son, who did it, after all"
As he said this, a stocky man entered. His face was strong, with a prominent chin and dark eyes, and scars littered all over his arms and face. On a chain around his neck hung a darkly glowing crystal. He now bore little resemblance to the inquisitive, thoughtful boy that he had raised.
"I know how much you hate suspense, Dad, so I'll get right to it" Jack Grimwaller said, "When we went into their fortress, I went off to the center of the cave and imprisoned the thirteen Mystic elders, and arranged them in a circle. placing the crystal in the center of this circle, and Commanded their power into it. At this point, something, unexpected happened, the entier Mystic population, I believe, immediately died".
"Amazing", Tobias said.
"Yes, it's finally over", said the commander.
And so Jack Grimwaller became the savior of the Human race. His story was told and retold on down the ages. Only Jack Grimwaller would know the truth to this matter, however, until, many centuries later, it was uncovered.
