The war was reaching a climax. Though he was a experienced warrior, Tobias Grimwaller had never witnessed such savagery. Fire was a favorite weapon of the Mystics, as it was the easiest of their powers to master. The extreme heat was enough to melt man and machine alike. Tobias knew this all too well. Trying to help his friend had shown him that. As he was pulling his friend out of a bunker, he heard that sickening sound of the moisture in the air vaporizing over his head. All at once, he was blinded by the flash of the explosion as the fireball made contact with the roof of the bunker. The next thing that he became aware of was the sickening stench of burning hair and flesh, mingled with a warm sensation in his shocked arm. Opening his eyes, he retched at what he saw next. As he opened his eyes, he pulled his left arm to his face. He saw it stretch, and then snap, like hot cheese. Pulling out his knife, he cuts a strip of cloth from his pants and wraps it around his still smoking stump. He then passed clean out. Two days later, he awoke in a nice clean bed, with the commander of the entire Human Resistance sitting next to his bed. Tobias only had one question on his mind.

"Did we win".
Surprised, the commander looks up form his paper.
"Did we win the battle", repeated Tobias urgently.
"Yes, and we crushed not only their main forces, but their morale. We left none alive," said the commander.
"Serves 'em right", grunted Tobias, "After what they did to us in our cities"
Two weeks before, The city in which Tobias lived Had been wiped off the map by a group of very powerful mystics. Had his wife and three children not been visiting family, they would have been drawn into the Dark Dimension, a realm of no known escape. His oldest was on leave from the military at the time, and immediately rejoined his unit following. Tobias had no doubt that his son had been responsible for the sweeping victory, being the most powerful human Mage in existence. His suspicions were soon confirmed by the commander.
"Without your son and his task force, we would not be here today. We have reason to believe that we were fighting the Black Corps"
A gasp escaped Tobias' lungs. "The whole thing?", he whispered. Tobias had only encountered the Black Corps, an elite Mystic unit, comprising of only the most powerful and ruthless Mystics, once in the past, and he was forced to teleport out to survive.
