Thoughts on global warming

Total Meltdown

A personal opinion to a heated argument!

The following theory is my simple, but reasonable explanation why the planet Earth is getting hot and possible future implication for all life forces that live on it!

Our world, home, planet earth, whatever we may wish to call this precious rock we live on has probably been in a solid existence for over five billion years (5,000,000,000), figures difficult for most of us normal folk to even comprehend. Throughout that immense period of time this planet has experienced countless extreme temperature and weather variations. Ions ago for example, there was one period (perhaps more!) in the earth distant history; known as Snowball Earth', where for several million years our planet was totally covered by ice! In contrast, there have also been similar long periods so hot that no living thing could possibly have survived.

Between these periods of extreme heat and cold, there have also been innumerable minor variations in temperatures, still likely to have caused extremely uncomfortable periods for any life force, should it have existed at the time!

As far as we know living organisms have existed for only a tiny fraction of planet earth's five billion years, and human existence an exceptionally minor portion of that fraction!

Life on earth, including human creation and our continual existence is not biblical, but almost certainly because we are fortunate to be living in a quiet period between earths less frequent, but more violent swings of extreme heat and cold. These quiet periods can last thousands, often millions of years at a time, during which temperatures still fluctuate considerably, but so far in our short history, not enough to completely wipe out human life and all other living things.

An interesting hypothesis I'm sure you will agree, but you may well be wondering when I'm likely to get to the point, which is this: It is my belief that the earth is presently on the heating up side of quite serious temperature variation and has been for the last ten/fifteen thousand years, perhaps even more. A problem which has been a common occurrence throughout earth's history, the present one developing progressively and quite soon likely to seriously involve all life on this planet!

The following is a simple example:

If you put ice in a box and left the box in temperatures above freezing, initially the confined ice would generate cold and slow down the melting process, a gradually increasing melt rate would occur as the
