So you are going on a road trip. Great ! ! There are many things you need to think of before you go. Will you be going with just a spouse or loved one? Are you taking the children? What about your pet? Will you leave them with a kennel, take them or leave them with family? Where will you go? What will you do when you get there? What will you drive? Will you take a bus? Cab? Will you rent a car?
If your taking the children, you may want to plan on getting a small cottage with extra rooms and a kitchen. This way, you can cook for the family and plan on going out to eat at a restaurant of your choosing a few times you are there. Making a trip to the local supermarket can help you save some money. Have a nice meal at the cottage and enjoy local entertainment at night or go on an adventure.
Choose your destination and make an itinerary before you go. Figure out the best rest stops along the way. Don't pack alot of unnecessary items for your trip. This will add weight to the vehicle and make it work harder using more gas. Fill up at stations that have cheaper gas. Stay away from self-serve stations. Learn to check your own fluids yourself to save that extra buck.
Know what you want to do when you get there. You may want to go to the water parks, Broadway, or where ever. Set a budget for each entertainment spot you go to in order to save money and stick with it. Your out to have fun, not go bankrupt or broke.
Make sure you have some extra cash or travelers checks in case of an emergency. Things happen that are out of your control. A child gets hurt, flat tires blow out. Be sure to be safe.
What ever you choose to do, be prepared and have fun.
