"Mistakes are the usual bridge between inexperience and wisdom." (Phyllis Therous)
Mistakes are a necessary ingredient in the pie called Life. The whole is the sum of its parts, and mistakes are merely a part of the whole. In other words, without mistakes it cannot be Life.
It has been said that human beings are "perfectly flawed". Mistakes are a crucial part of the human existence and the journey of life. Mistakes teach us the way not to do something. Mistakes indicate that there is something we must learn. Mistakes are for learning, evolving, and growth.
We are not our mistakes.
When an inexperienced child makes the mistake of touching a hot burner that burns their hand, that child should learn to not touch stove burners in the future. It was necessary for the child to experience this mistake in order to learn and gain the wisdom not to touch stove burners. However, not everyone learns with the mistakes they make, and they will continue to make the same mistake over and over until they learn what it is they need to learn at that point on their journey. Recognizing and acknowledgment of the mistakes we make is where true growth lies.We move from inexperience to wisdom with each mistake we not only make, but recognize and accept that we have made.
Remember, mistakes are not wrong or bad, they are simply indicators of a lesson you need to learn. That is where true wisdom comes from: Learning from our mistakes. So grab a big piece of the pie, savor the sweet and the sour, taste the wisdom, and enjoy being "perfectly flawed". You are right where you need to be.
