I recently spent a mid Summers night at the Marriot Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland in the popular area there known as the Inner Harbor. The reason for my visit was to catch an evening baseball game (The Orioles), and the hotel was within walking distance to the stadium. Located on busy Pratt Street, right across the street from the Inner Harbor festivities, the hotel is perfectly situated and certainly stands out among the Baltimore skyline. The exterior is a beautiful glassy blue, and the architecture very modern. Some rooms offer views of the Harbor. There are 12 floors, 586 rooms, 36 suites.
There is an indoor pool and weight room, though I didn't take advantage of either so I cannot attest for how nice they are, but I am sure they are adequate at the very least. There is also a restaurant, bar, gift shop and lobby. All very nice from what I could see.
Service at the Marriot Renaissance was excellent. Check in/Check out was very quick and painless. Housekeeping didn't come busting in at 8:00 am on checkout day which was good!
There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the Marriot, as I previously mentioned you can walk from the hotel to the Aquarium, Shops, Camden Yards Baseball, Football stadium for the Ravens and boat tours of the harbor.
The hotel is a little pricey (around $200 + tax for a two double bed), and I have heard that when the dreaded Yankees are in town the rates go up even higher. Also if you are parking your car, keep in mind that the garage (not owned by the hotel) is $25 a day to park your car. This can add up pretty quickly of you are staying more than one night.
