The greatest myth being perpetuated upon the citizens of earth today is the myth of global warming. The global warming hysteria is fueled by pseudo-science and public figures with little or no capability to understand the rhetoric they so religiously spew.

The myth perpetuators are constantly spouting off about how there is no disagreement among scientists as to the cause of global warming. The truth is there are many very qualified scientists who are bravely speaking out against their misguided comrades. I say bravely because those who speak out against the politically correct party line face ridicule and even the loss of employment.

When the myth supporters spread their lie that all of science agrees that man is the cause of global warming, what they are actually talking about is scientific consensus...not science. Scientific consensus is political, not scientific. It is the group's best guess of what is happening, specifically because the science cannot prove it. For example the scientific consensus at one time was that the earth was flat. In other words, scientific consensus is many times just plain wrong.

The myth proponents like to say that so many thousands of scientists have agreed and signed onto the Kyoto Treaty. The truth is that each scientist agrees with the little portion of the treaty that they wrote or studied, very few have spoken openly of supporting the entire treaty as a whole. Kyoto is a disaster for the environment and for those nations that have signed on.

More importantly, what exactly are these knuckleheads talking about when it comes to the rise in our planets temperature? Just how much has the earth's average temperature risen? Are you ready for this? 0.7 degrees Celsius. That's it! 0.7 degrees! That's not all, over how long of a period of time would you guess that rise occurred? ...100 years! The earth's temperature has risen 0.7 degrees over 100 years! Oh my, lions and tigers and bears, the sky is falling, let me hide in my cave. What's more, half of that rise occurred before 1940! Do you get it?

I am an environmentalist, a true environmentalist. That is why the lies and myths being espoused by so many ingrates upset me. The fear of global warming is being perpetuated and used not to save the planet, but to re-distribute wealth. These folks want to take massive amounts of your money and distribute it into programs that will benefit no one but themselves. The United Nations own report stated that there was nothing humans could do to change global warming, even if it did exist.

I am all for conversation and for developing alternatives energies; I have been for more years than a lot of you have been alive. The problem is that this hysteria will cause us to throw trillions of dollars into projects that will ultimately fail, all because we were rushed into acting, without thinking through the problem first. We see it happening already. The jump to develop ethanol fuels has caused a bushel of corn to double in price in just one year! This affects the cost of almost everything. We need to have a logical and well thought out plan if we are ever going to reduce our dependence upon foreign oil.

We need conservation and alternate forms of energy not because the world is melting, but because being dependent upon other nations is dangerous to our survival and because the polluting of our water and ground is the real threat. The danger with making global warming the impetus for change is that it takes the money away from where it truly needs to be and moves it to where it shouldn't.
