The internet got abuzz when Kanye West decided on his Can't Tell Me Nothing mixtape-in between developments of rapping on top of the beat to "Young Folks" and the mega rap smash "Throw Some D's" in ironic ways-to team up with his own protege Lupe Fiasco and mega-producer Pharrell Williams for a super track called "Us Placers".
West sets the backdrop to a gorgeous piano piece taken from Thom Yorke's solo record The Eraser and lets the rappers fly. All of them prose different subjects, like Kanye with the trials and tribulations of fame, but what mostly stands out is Pharrell's piece on Katrina. It is poignant and shows a very surprising amount of heart for the Neptunes producer. I mean, to go from "Can I Have It Like That?" to a subject as complex as a natural disaster without problem takes some skill.
The most important thing that has come out of this is the rumors that CRS will be back. They're planned to be back on a track from Graduation, no word if it is "Us Placers" or a new song, and murmurs of a new album have surfaced and teased rabid fans of the three. And they say the supergroup is dead...
