This is insanity.
Just because a small percentage of people have peanut allergies, should we bar the classic peanutbutter sandwiches from schools?
Get real, folks. I'm glad to see that most writers here disagree with the statement - but not by a gigantic margin.
Don't get me wrong. I'd hate to see anyone have a peanut allergy outbrake. But this is getting a little bit silly, don't you think? Peanutbutter does a ton more good than it does harm. What's next? Do we outlaw pens and pencils because kids have poked themselves with them before?
Yes - let's everyone write with crayons until the eighth grade!
C'mon. This is the kind of logic we're considering here.
If you yourself didn't enjoy PB&J as a kid, your friends certainly did. And what about Christians who believe in giving up meat on Friday? What are their parents to pack for them? Tunafish?
I don't know about you, but I know a ton of kids who won't touch tunafish. I don't know many who won't go for a delicious PB&J sandwich.
Oh, and if you think I'm biased because I love my PB&J, think again.
I've had a peanut allergy for many years.
