Most media journalists are influenced by some form political bias. The difference between leading newspapers can often be defined by their political slant and opinions. Journalists working in the mainstream are influenced by the political opinions of who they work for and the need to gain approval of their work by their employers. Bloggers and citizen journalists may have their own political opinions, but they are not subject to the same pressures and influences as mainstream journalists.
By gaining credentials to cover Congress, citizen journalists have the freedom to portray events and opinions as they really see them and support a democratic system. As long as a person has credentials which they have earned through ability, they should be entitled to report on Congress. Unbiased reports and true opinions are more likely to reach the public when the person writing them is not influenced by who is paying their wages.
