Reflections: Strength

I often ask myself, what it takes to be a good man. I watched my father walk in and out of the door, when he was my age, holding down two and three jobs. I swore that I was never going to be forced into that position. I have made my share of mistakes. I look back at the times that he worked so hard that he could not see straight when he would get home.

The measure of a man's resolve, is that which he carries with him throughout his entire life. It is forged when he is quite young and handcrafted, but never quite the masterpiece until the day of his conclusion.
So, what makes me strong. I hope that my children will know this when I am gone. I do not know now, nor will I ever have the gift of judging how willful and deliberate I could be, or how diligent my actions are. My words mean squat...to me. It is my actions and the measure of my resolve that will be judged long after my demise. The strength of a man is measured solely in his work. His work is measured as deeds. His deeds are the basis for his character. His character is fortified in perpetuity. Now, for the change up...women on the whole are much more willful and directed than men. If you do not believe this go ask your mother.
