Great crocheted Mother's Day gifts

With you own hands and a little patience, you can produce presents in appreciation of your mother that she will cherish, and whatever age you are, making these little parts of what creates family history really can be a pleasure. Outlined below are a variety of projects suited to different ages and abilities of crochet workers, in an effort to make those who want to use their skills to make that perfect gift successful in making their mother proud of her daughter.

For the young child. (under supervision)

The attention span of a small child isn't developed sufficiently to make a huge project and neither would any mom expect it, though even at basic level, a small child can make a wide variety of presents in crochet that will bring out the tears of joy better than any bought card or present ever will, simply because the child made it specially for their mom.

*Oven gloves
*Scarf
*Dice to hang from a key-ring
*Crochet flowers
*Bookmark

Oven gloves are simple to make and can be made from a strip of eight squares, folding the end squares over for mom to put her hands when handling hot plates. A scarf can be constructed easily from squares as well. Dice are again made from squares which can be colorful.

The basic square.

1.Make a chain of six.
2.Join the chain to make a circle
3.Make two chains.
4.Work two trebles into the circle, then three chains.
5.Work three trebles, and then three chains.
6.Repeat stage 5
7.Repeat stage 5 and join against the beginning of the square.

Subsequent rows are worked, three trebles into holes in the sides and one chain, and three trebles, a three chain and another three trebles into the corner hole, and different colors can be used for different rows. For the dice, you need to make very small squares in find thread and a child may need a little bit of help. These are then crocheted together and before joining the last seam, are stuffed with fiber. The thin thread means that the holes will hardly be visible and will retain the stuffing.

Crochet flowers are worked by making a chain and joining it into a circle, followed by a single crochet, 2 double crochets, one treble, 2 doubles and back to a single crochet combination, all worked into the center of the hole in pretty colors.

Crocheting is bookmark is fairly simple and is a straight strip of crochet in any basic style.

For the older child.
