I think that corporations, unions and trade associations should absolutely be permitted to write checks directly to politicians and political parties. This would be an easy way for me to see where certain businesses stand on political issues and give me reason to either support that business or not support that business. I have to really wonder though, why WOULD a business support a particular candidate? To me it would be limiting the number of potential customers you may have. My feeling is that if you are a business owner, keep your business out of politics... unless of course a pending piece of legislation is going to directly affect your business. Then, by all means pick a side... but pick the side based on the specific issue and not the party. The business you save may be your own.
