How to tell if riding a motorcycle is for you

by Lee Gee

Motorcycles aren't for everyone. Anyone can learn to ride, but motorcycles attract a die hard core of people with a love of speed, risks or both. It's not too difficult to tell if the riding of motorcycles is 'for you' because there is two extremes with very little in between, with those who do ride being ultra passionate, in favor of motorcycles and those who don't being dead against them.

If you have a love for the exhilaration and excitement of speed, if you're the type of person to run to and be willing to queue for hours in a theme park for the biggest roller-coaster, then you will adore the feel, the thrill and the over all buzz of being in control of your speed with a flick of the wrist and having the simple extension to your body of two wheels and an engine beneath you to propel you along the road while you're leaning a bike to push and pull the machine, maneuvering it and having a true feel of the road and of speed that can never be gained from being inside the box of a car.

Some people know instantly that they'd love to own and ride a motorcycle. It can be a natural curiosity, especially amongst men, to test the water of motorcycles and find out if they are for them and most will be instantly bitten by the bug. To be suited to motorcycles you do need confidence. The confidence in your self and confidence in machinery is an essential combination if you are to be happily matched with riding motorcycles and it's a confidence which will help to keep you safe on a motorcycle because a rider lacking confidence in their self or machine can be dangerous.

If even in a car you enjoy cruising the roads, without anyone except you and your car feeling the forces of your speed at work as you are pulled from one side of your seat to the other when taking a series of corners, thriving off the sound of engine roar knowing that you have full control then you are indeed one of the special breed to whom riding motorcycles will be an unparalleled adrenalin rush.
