Lawn mowing best practices

Some innocent Lawn Humor.

One lawn practice NOT to use is mowing when the grass is wet. Here in our small SATURN, TEXAS community, we have been getting weird abnormal amounts of rain this year.

Now, picture my little Hispanic husband, standing on our dilapidated front porch, tapping his foot and actually PONDERING mowing this wet soggy smorgasbord of grass. Yet, that is actually what is going through his mind, I can see it.

Now, about 3 months ago, after years of hoping and wishing, he finally acquired an antique riding lawn mower. After years of visions on a riding mower, he finally got on. I know how he feels. You know how he feels. Itching fingers, can't wait to crank it up and get on it, feel the vibrations under your seat, then the all knowing happens, your actually mowing grass on your dream.

Well, on this day particular, he is standing on the porch, and I feel that thought coming from his brain, and I know it is going to happen. He is going to try and mow the wet grass.

In two large bounds down the steps, he runs to his antique lawn mower, cranks it up, grabs a grand-baby, throws in 5th gear, and you guessed it, he takes off. The purpose of grabbing the grand-baby is so I wont go after him and stop him from mowing. Smart move huh?

So there I sit on my porch, hoping my chair doesn't fall through, watching the two I love with all my heart mowing some wet grass on an old lawn mower. I see the glee in my grand-babies eyes as she pretends to steer, and the laughter from them both, but the quick glancing my way... just to make sure I am not coming to stop the fun.

When it is over with, the yard looks marvelous, the grand-baby has fallen asleep, my husband is sweaty and ready for some iced tea, and so am I.

HMMM, maybe mowing the wet grass isn't so bad after all.
