people! These hands are suited-connectors. The best being the A-K suited the lowest would be the 2-3 suited. Even though the 2-3 doesn't have the same threat of the A-K, because you can't really hope to win with a pair here, the 2-3 and other low suited connectors have been known to break some people.
The reason these hands are so dangerous, lies with the plethora of threats they contain. Depending on the flop suited connectors could hit a flush, a straight that your opponents may overlook making your hand all the more dangerous. For example let's pretend you are in a pot with two other opponents one is holding AA the other AK(unsuited). The flop is A(hearts) 5(diamonds) and 2(hearts). Because you read this article you decided to call the blinds with a measly 3-4(both hearts) lucky you. Your opponents both have strong hands, one has the high pair with a great kicker and will probably bet, the other thinks he is about to get rich with his 3 of a kind that has absolutely no chance of improving, while your 3-4 has already hit a straight and is a card away from a straight flush. You are in a situation where if you bet correctly you could probably lure both opponents all-in creating a massive pot with your name on it.
While these perfect situations may not occur very often in a game, it is usually worth paying a blind to see a flop if you are holding on to suited connectors. Remember to keep in mind the other indicators that I mentioned before though. Suited connectors have a way of sneaking up on opponents and enable you to trap them, making them think they have the best hand which will lead them into betting into your superior hand. Even if you don't hit the straight or the flush on the flop there are two more cards to look at. You may end up one card away from that flush or straight and be forced to weigh your odds to decide whether or not to go for it which would depend on some of those factors we discussed before. If you are lucky enough to hit something with your suited connectors the winning potential is greater than that of a high pocket pair, as I have explained before. The beauty is if you do not hit anything that gives you a reason to bet on the flop, you can get out of a hand relatively cheap without any stress. So, essentially with suited connectors you are risking a little to win a lot, while with high pocket pairs most players risk a lot to win a little. Both are good hands to begin with, but personally I like winning a few big pots, rather than a lot of little ones.
A side-note: All other cards aside from high pocket pairs, high connected cards, or any suited connectors are trash, unless position, chip count, or any other indicator dictates otherwise. Good Luck!
