So you want to join the millions of people who swear by meeting their potential partner on the world wide web. Now where do you start?
I believe the first thing you need to think about, is what it is exactly you are looking for on-line. Are you looking for a partner in the hopes of settling down and being together forever? Have you just realized your gay, or just come out, and would really like to make more queer friends, and if you're lucky enough, maybe even a girlfriend? Or are you one of the women that really is just looking for someone to hot and sweaty with, walking away the next day with no strings attached?
Now that you have some sort of idea what you are looking for, it is time for you to start hitting those websites. Now you need to spend some time at different sites to find which one is going to suit your needs best. Do you need to find a site thats free, or are you happy to pay for its services? What features does it have, chat rooms, instant messaging, email? Are the women who frequent the site in the age group you are hoping to meet, or are they even in the same country?
You've found a site you like, and you want to set up a personal profile, but where do we start? A user-name. Its good to have something catchy and a bit unique. Try to steer clear of choosing a name which makes it obvious what your real name is, that way you can choose which personal details you give to people. Now, normally there will be certain categories where you can simply choose from a selection of responses. Normally this is in regards to your physical appearance, sexual preferences, age, hobbies, favorites, and perhaps what you're looking for. Try to be as honest as you can, as after all if you meet someone, they will find out the truth eventually anyway.
The hardest part of any profile is having to write your "about me" bio. We tend to be our own harshest critics, unnecessarily so. Ask your friends how they would describe you, or think about why you would be friends with you if you were someone else. If you've been in relationships before, you will probably have an idea of what type of partner you are, or would be. Have a look through other peoples profiles and see what types you like, do you prefer people that have very little written about themselves, or the women who have written an essay about who they are? Do you prefer profiles that are clever, witty, or serious?
"About them" What is you're looking for? try not to be too specific here, unless you know you are only attracted
