Speaking with an accent: What's easy and what's hard?

I think it is. For some reason, our country is allowing way too many immigrants into the states. Since when do I have to be bi-lingual in order to get hired for a job? The last time I checked I'm American and our language is English. These people come here, take a lot of the jobs that citizens need, and pollute our communities with drugs and what not. I've walked into a few local stores where there was nothing but people who spoke with heavy accents working there. I'd ask them a question, and they'd stare back at me blankly. Like huh? They don't understand half the things I say to them. Yet they still get the job first. And then they proceed to hire more of those people with strong accents. They get promoted to even a manager.

I called my fiance at his job a few times and people with accents would answer. I'd ask for him and they'd tell me hold on. Now either they would hang up or give the phone to the wrong person. Even though I clearly asked for him by first and last name. So I went to file a complaint to the manager. I told her my long story. And would you believe she didn't understand me? She had that same strong accent and was looking at me all confused. But they don't get in trouble for not understanding. I was SOL because there was nobody else there at that time that I could complain to.

So to wrap things up, yes it's easy when you speak with an accent. You practically get everything handed to you for no reason. That's how I see it and I haven't been proved wrong yet.
