Busy life styles? No one is home at the same time? How do you prepare a good meal that can stay warm for a couple of hours?
I have the answers. I am a single mom of three active teenagers. We all have different schedules, so it was hard to plan a meal where we can all be together. I have learned over the years to use items that I already have in the refrigerator or combining left overs to make a new meal.
I devised an easy recipe that combines ingredients of meatloaf with a pastry cover.
Preheat oven to 375.
Ingredients:
1 can crescent rolls ( 8 count)
1 lb. ground beed (lean)
1 small onion
1 T. chili powder
4 oz. can tomato sauce
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 cup shredded cheese
salt
pepper
Brown 1 lb. lean ground beef, add onion, chili powder and 1/2 can of tomato sauce. Stir in bread crumbs and 1/2 cup cheese until all melted. Salt and pepper to taste.
Set meat mixture aside to cool.
Open 1 can of crescent rolls (8 count). Split into 4 sections and press together to make 4 dough squares.
Take the meat mixture and place generous portion towards to left edge of each of the dough squares leaving room to fold over and squeeze closed.
Place on greased cookie sheet, sprinkle remaining cheese on top of each dough square.
Bake for 15 - 20 minutes until golden brown.
Serve immediately.
Notes: You can also add frozen vegetables, potatoes, etc. when cooking the meat.
