Great Crocheted Mother's Day gifts

Do you always get your Mum flowers or chocolates for Mother's Day? Do you want to get her something difference but don't know what? Your Mum is very special to you, which means you'll want to give her a very special gift for Mother's Day and what better way of doing it than making something for her yourself.

Crochet gifts can make ideal Mother's Day gifts and your Mum will love it even more knowing that you have made it just for her. What better gift to receive than something that has been made especially for you by someone you love.

Handmade gifts always make an excellent present as thought, time and effort have been put into them, which gives them that individuality that no shop bought gift can offer and as such, are always appreciated.

Although there are a huge variety of things you could crochet for Mother's Day, only you know what your mother would enjoy best. However here are a few suggestions that might help you decide. You should be able to find patterns for all these items in your local knitting and crochet or craft shop, or online:

1. Drawstring bag (which could also be used for potpourri, or jewellery)

2. Slippers (cosy slippers to keep her feet warm on cold nights)

3. Belt (Belts are an ideal present and can be used to liven up outfits for a special night out, or just worn at home)

4. Tablecloth (A beautiful crotched tablecloth is sure to be appreciated.

5. Shawl (A lovely shawl that she can wear out or snuggle up in, in front of the fire)

6. Pot Holder (A welcome and practical gift)

7. Cushion (Snuggling up to a cushion made by a loved one is sure to please)

8. Place mats (These could be made to contrast with the tablecloth and given together)

9. Cardigan (Always a welcome gift)

10.Poncho (Something a little different for Mum to wear)

11.Sachets to hold potpourri to put in her clothes drawers (Another gift that is always appreciated)

12.A teddy bear (No one is too old for a teddy bear!)

You could add little personal touches to your gifts by adding initials and making them in your Mother's favourite colours. Gift-wrap them in pretty boxes or you could even crochet covers for the boxes to make it even more special. To complete the gift you could crochet a little gift tag with your Mum's initials, or simply the word Mum on it.

I'm sure your Mum will love whatever you gave her, but the thought and little extra touches in a gift that you have made yourself will make it even more special and memorable for her.
