Christianity: Is the US due for a revival

Through the years, America has seen its share of major revivals. Asuza Street, Steubenville and Pensacola just to name a few. Is America due for another major revival that will have some longevity to it?

The 50,000+ gathered in Nashville a couple weeks ago seem to think so.

One day, July 7, 2007 (referred to simply as 7-7-07) marked a day when, "America was to be married with God once again." Congregants came to Nashville, TN and the LP Field (home of the Titans) for a day of worship, prayer and fasting; all to usher in another move of God in this nation.

We could use some revival to be honest. The psyche of this nation has not been the same since 9-11. Of course, the wounds from 9-11 will never truly go away. But, a fresh new touch of God on a nationwide scale could be on our doorstep.

Asuza Street back in the 1900s saw the founding of the Pentecostal church. Stuebenville (and the Charismatic renewal in general) in the 1960s ushered in a new experience in God. And, Pensacola and the Brownsville Revival is probably one of the most documented and talked about revivals in the church to date.

On 7-7-07, people gathered in Nashville (and stadiums all over the world) to ask God to come again. Anderson/Cooper on CNN has had some clips from The Call on his TV show called "In God's Country." And, God may have answered their prayers. I have heard testimonies of things that have happened since "The Call" in Nashville.

One woman I talked to said that revival broke out on the bus ride home. Ten hours worth.

July 7, 2007 in Nashville also marked an important day (as far as Christians are concerned); 2007 marks the 40th anniversary of the "summer of love," when America went into its rebellious stage. Interestingly enough, 2007 also marked the 40th anniversary of the Charismatic renewal in this country.

Coincidence?

What was birthed in Nasvhille in 7-7-07 will continue to escalate in the months to come. Organizers are saying that they will be planning a "Call" gathering in San Francisco (home of the summer of love) on August 8, 2008. 8-8-08.

Revival does not have to stop. People get this idea that revival comes and then goes. Azusa Street came to a close as did the Brownsville Revival. I think God is preparing us for a revival that will never stop.
