What is the difference between your soul and spirit?

by Tom Koecke

Created on: July 20, 2007

This question begs an answer that is largely one of faith. I believe it virtually impossible for one person to show another person proof of a definitive truth. As such, I offer this only as my opinion.

The difference between one's spirit and one's soul is the difference between light and gravity. Light and gravity are not opposite forces; in fact, light is not a force at all.

Light is a dual-natured quantum particle that interacts with the electrons in atomic structures, causing the creation of photons. Light particles travel at 'the speed of light,' obviously, so one particle is able to 'quantify' electrons at about 300 million miles per second. What we see as light are really billions (it's more likely a number well beyond billions) of photons each particle can quantify in a second, times how many particles are present. Light has a range of various intensities. Of this range of intensities, light that is visible to us comprises a very small slice.

Whatever it is that are our spirits, are similar to that which are our 'lights.' It is our intensity, our brightness, and our luminescence. Our auras emanate from our spirits.

Gravity is a force. It is the force that attracts smaller masses to the center of larger masses. Size is only one measurement in mass; density is the other. When a smaller mass is subjected to the gravity of a larger mass, the gravity of the smaller mass relative to the larger mass is measured as weight. If it succumbs to the gravity of the larger mass, it is consumed by the larger mass, and adds its gravity to the larger mass.

Our souls are our gravities. If we allow little things to be consumed, we laden our souls with unnecessary gravity. It will naturally attract small matters into itself, and we must occasionally shake our carpets, or we resort to sweeping those small things under our carpets. We must occasionally shift our loads by reprioritizing, or we clutter our souls with unresolved issues and carry baggage. We must occasionally cleanse our souls, or we carry the dirt of our thoughts and feelings forward with us.

Whatever it is that are our souls, are similar to that which is our 'gravities.' It is our baggage, our burdens and crosses, and our thoughts and sins. Though we never escape gravity, if we shed weight and become lighter than masses at our depth, we will experience levity and rise above that which was once at our depth.

That's just my opinion.
