Hell is the place created by God to hold Satan and all the angels who chose to follow him. When sinful man came upon the scene Hell was given the added responsibility of being the ultimate destination of all who refuse the free gift of eternal life. This free gift is available to all.

Hell is not a metaphor, nor is it a place for evildoers. We are all evildoers. No one goes to Hell for being evil; being evil is our nature. One goes to Hell because one does not have life. The opposite of eternal life is not just death - it is eternal death. Hell is the place where you will experience that eternal death, just as the opposite is true that Heaven is the place where you will experience eternal life. Either way - it is your choice.

It is interesting how many folks who consider themselves Christians, deny an actual Hell. It is interesting because Jesus had more to say about Hell than he did Heaven, much more in fact. They like the idea of Heaven very much thank you, but please let's just not have any of this Hell business, it is just so, so unloving.

God is love, this is true, but God has many other aspects as well. God is holy, God is Truth, God is Creator, God is Spirit and God is also one other thing, God is Judge. And God's judgment is always right. God does not relinquish one aspect of Himself to exercise another. He does not cease to be Love, when He acts as Judge.

If one of our own human judges had a convicted murderer brought before him, but instead of sending him to prison he set him free claiming it was not loving to send him to prison, how would people react to that? Would they consider that justice? It may have been loving, though I doubt that as well, but it was certainly not justice. If we hold man to such a high standard of justice, then why is God held to a lower standard of justice than man? God administers perfect justice by allowing those who choose so, excuse this, to go to Hell.

God as Judge is perfect in His justice. God as Love is perfect love. He has provided the way for us to have eternal life. He has provided justification, which means it is, just-as-if-you-had-never-sinne d. Eternal life is a free gift; you have only to accept it.
