Missing Prissy
Ask if I like animals? I love animals, but at present can't have them because of my granddaughter's allergies. Hopefully, she will outgrow the allergies and will be able to have the opportunity to experience the joy of having an animal.
On Mother's Day in May of 1985 what did I get for a gift? I received a little puppy. I had been wanting a registered Pekingese and that is exactly what she was. Prior to this, I had answered an add for some Pekingese puppies for sale. By the time I responded to the add, all of the puppies were sold. I was not going to give up.
The owner of these dogs told me, she was waiting for another litter with another female Pekingese. She informed me of the due dates of the birth of the puppies and assured me she would notify me of the births. The women did contact me and it was in April when I was told I could go over and pick the one I wanted. Looking at the five puppies, there she was, the runt of the litter. She was as white as snow with a little black nose. The moment I picked her up I just knew she had to be mine.
Time went by and it was Mother's Day when we got the message on my answering machine, stating that the puppy would be ready to pick up the following week. I wanted to have her that day and no later, therefore; I begged the lady to allow me to pick the puppy up that day. With convincing she allowed me to purchase her then, but I had to promise to bring her for her six week check up and get her shot and medications.
My husband, two daughters and I rushed over to get her. The drive took approximately twenty minutes, but it felt like hours. When we arrived the lady was waiting on us and was excited to show us my puppy. When I picked her up, she was so small she fit in the palm of one hand. She asked what I wanted to name her and I told her Prissy. That was her name because she looked prissy when she tried to walk.
When it was time to pay for Prissy and take her home, she told me the purchase had already been taken care of by my husband and children. They wanted to surprise me on Mother's Day.
Needless to say, that puppy became almost everything to me and she knew it. The longer I had her, the more close she and I got. She was so well behaved and so smart. We regularly took her for her vet. appointments even though she didn't enjoy them. It was for her own good so she could grow up big and strong. She grew but always stayed petite. Her coat was white with a black nose and brownish stains under her eyes. She was
