Is snoring a problem?

Medically speaking, there are certain types of snoring that qualify as a health risks but most snoring is simply the way people suck in air when they sleep. I am a lucky snorer because my wife finds the sound comforting. She says the sound makes her feel safer than waking up in the middle of the night to silence. Plus, she knows I'm alive. Fortunately, the older I've gotten, the less I snore. I understand I used to be a real rip-roarer who would stop suddenly and not breathe for thirty seconds or more. In fact, I used to be so loud I would wake myself up quite often.

America's Funniest Home Videos has segments on snoring from time to time which are pretty funny but I have a very humorous situation going on right here. We rescued a cat from some people who used to keep it in the basement. Never let it out. It is an older cat who had lost all of the hair off it's butt because of the stress of living in the dark with several other animals. It took this cat months before it would finally even come out of hiding and even longer to trust us enough to pet her. We have had her for several years now and she has developed the curious habit of having to lie on top of me when I snore. I can lay around the house all day without much particular interest from her. But the moment I start snoring she curls up on my chest and starts purring away. I guess she thinks I'm purring too!
