There is something in each of us that desires to reach out to the Great Someone. That Great Someone is a real being: God. He placed this desire in us so we would seek Him. Some deny this longing and say it is no more than the efforts of simple minds to feel comfort in their puny existence and that God is an invention of man's mind.
We balk at God's rules and not wanting to give up our pleasures, we often invent a god who allows us to sin. We are the lesser, so we do not get to make up the rules. However, I have to ask what good is a god you only invent anyway? He is not real and is therefore only a thought.
I think of how many times I have heard someone say that his or her god would never allow this or that bad thing to happen. Or that his or her god would never send anyone to hell. Neither would God send anyone to hell. Not because He allows us to sin, but because He has given us reason and choice. So, if we go to hell, we did it to ourselves.
As far as bad things happening, who decides what is good and what is bad? Has our track record as humans been that good? We don't even have enough information at times to determine this. How often has something happened that everyone thought was so bad, only to turn out to be a real God sent intervention? God always knows what we need.
For the most part, we don't even know how to express what we think we need or want. Ask fifty people, at random, what would make them happy and the larger percentage will say "money." However, it is not money that makes us happy, it is the peace, safety or power we think we can purchase with it
The proof of His realness lies in the everyday miracles we refuse to see and in His Holy Word. There is an old saying about the Bible that goes like this:
"The new within the old concealed, the old within the new reveled."
This is true. What is in the New Testament is foretold in the Old Testament. Men could not see this until the events happened. Therefore, it often made no sense to them. However, the Old Testament is opened for us in the New Testament.
If you pooled all the brilliant minds of today, they could not produce anything to equal the Bible. The vastness of our knowledge is not what you measure, but rather the quality: where it was obtained and the length of time it stands.
Our judgment is not sound. It once led us to believe the world was flat and the center of the universe around which the sun, moon, and stars revolved, that vampires drank blood, and witches flew on brooms. None of His word has been disproved. God's word will stand forever, and will never pass away.
His Word weaves a truth that cannot be denied. As the world enters into and experiences the last days that were prophesied long before man had the tremendous knowledge we now possess, we see the living truth of His Word as it happens.
God loves humility, but hates pride because it denies Him. Therefore, He hides understanding from the proud and reveals it to the humble. What do we have to be proud about? He has given to us or allowed us to obtain all that we possess. He can send a blessing or a devourer.
I don't possess a highly educated mind, but this I know with every fiber of my being; He is real, He is who He says He is and He will bring about what He has written in His Holy Bible. His word will not return to Him in vain.
No mortal mind could make up a God as wonderful as mine. Seek and you will find, ask and you will be given, knock and it will be opened. If you want to find the truth, it can be found. If you want to know God, you can find Him. For He is very, very, very real.
