Search engine optimization is a process. It involves evaluating your site, choosing the most appropriate keywords - terms that those who are your would-be visitors would use to find a site like yours - for your site, and using those keywords in a way that makes your site more visible to search engine web crawlers. The better the search engine optimization of your site is, the higher it will rank in results from Google, MSN, Yahoo and other search engines.
What does it take to optimize your site and get it to the top?
1. Using HTML and META tags appropriately.
2. Fine tuning the content of your website.
3. Building appropriate links, both to other sites from yours and from other sites to yours.
4. Time and commitment.
Your website, whether it's a function of your business or your business, will need continuous attention. Those sites that rank well all of the time regularly bring in each of the above methods.
