The military celebrates like no other holiday or special days set aside. On the 31st of August 1949, Secretary of Defense Lois Johnson announced a new day for the Armed Forces that replaced the separate days for the Army, Navy and Air Force Days. Not only for that reason but to also educate civilians and make them aware of the growing armed forces in place for them and their protection. For many of the installation bases the common celebrations are the parades and the festivals, activities, demonstrations and even air shows with paratroopers.
For the many militants their day starts out with wearing their best pressed battle dress uniforms, mirror shined combat boots and nice clean accessories that make up the soldier. All buttons or any other metal pieces they wear has to be colored black with either marker or black finger nail polish. Everything on a soldier is inspected by their sergeant and any other higher ranking officers that want to make sure your just perfect. There are several rehearsals till the passing the President and his party is perfect. This celebration is started with the ceremony of soldier uniformed march, and upon passing the President and his party they look to the left when instructed by their higher ranking officer. Friends, family and everyone who supports the military with all heart are gathered to watch this ceremony as well. The feeling is almost immeasurably emotional with pride. That with every step each soldier takes they are marching in the very steps and prints of the soldiers of the past that made this country free and continue to give us all freedom today.
A lot of soldiers and officers are recognized and awards are handed out after the pass by. After the ceremony is initially over there are demonstrations held to show aspects of the jobs that the many men and women perform which military technology is exposed to the public that help serve and protect the many people of this country. People are also encouraged to explore the many military vehicles as well. Education is a priority for its many men and women of the military services to unify its people they serve. It is a day for the military and a day for all US Americans. It is a day to recognize all US Forces as a whole and each one is dedicated to make sacrifices necessarily to serve and protect its people of the United States.
