Poetry: Materialism

by T.Dall

Grande Designs

All perfect packaging,
In the displays of
Psychedelia and stark.
Inaccessible and utterly unique,
Snobbish hysteria.
Strange things all around,
Strips hang off racks
Like spectral entrails
Of the Confusion -
- Master Marketeer,
Maker of really nothing.
He accepts cards and cash,
Parted from the rash
Fauxlanders who never learn,
Constantly celebrating cultish
Out-of-turns culled
From backyards that litter
Bangkok to London.
Entering their enclave, I tripped
In disbelief at the doorstep.
Crashed right into the shoe racks,
Uttering curses in apology,
All while the boutique-keep
Stares on like an effigy.

    Whats mine is mine,
    Whats yours you can keep,
    If you borrow-return it,
    Otherwise-no sleep.

I've worked hard to get it,
