and for once you're having fun," Nancy exclaimed.
Nicole had to admit at least to herself that it was fun but she still felt disloyal. "I shouldn't be here having fun especially without Ralph."
"Oh, please! Like anyone can have fun with that loser. Nicky, listen up. You do not nor will you ever have Ralph. He's not going to marry you and you should be grateful for that. He is hideous to say the least. Tell me you don't like Jack and I'll leave you to your dreadful existence but I saw you two dancing and he loved your bizarre sense of humor. You two are perfect for each other."
Nicole stared at her cousin dumbstruck. She put two and two together as only an accountant could. "Did you set me up?"
"I can't take full credit. Jack seemed to find you on his own. I didn't tell him I was bringing you but I did mention you to him for months now but he was nursing a broken heart and he said he was once bitten, twice shy... or was it twice bitten?" Nancy mused. "Anyway, he's had one bad relationship after another so he wasn't willing to meet you. I think he was under the impression we were alike because we're cousins but you showed him, huh?"
"So, that's how he knew my name. You told him. Did you go out with him?" Nicole asked cautiously.
"Are you kidding? He's way too nice for me. You know I like the bad boys. You do like him, don't you? Otherwise, I will have to give up being the wing girl." she said smiling slyly.
"You could have told me she was this pretty, Nancy." Jack suddenly appeared behind Nicole startling her.
"I thought I had," she replied still smiling slyly at her cousin.
"You only said she had a good personality which everyone knows is code for ugly. Some wing girl you are!" he said huffily as he took Nicole by the shoulders and steered her towards the stage again.
"Hey, what are you doing?" she asked panicking slightly.
"We're up next. You be Sandy and I'm gonna by Danny," he said. At the confused look on her face he continued, "You know, Grease...Summer Nights...tell me you know it!"
"Of course, I know it but... I have to... get home...I have work early..." she said lamely.
"Yeah, I know. Your first appointment is with me, remember? And I'll let you know how early I'm willing to get up tomorrow morning after you sing with me," he told her with a smirk as they went up on stage.
"I'm not doing this. I'm not doing it. I'm not..." she protested.
"Summer loving, had me a blast..." he sang smiling at her.
"Summer loving, happened so fast...."
"Met a girl, crazy for me..."
"Met a boy, cute as can be..."
Nicole thought it was a very fitting song but hopefully she and Jack would last beyond the summer. She saw Nancy smiling broadly at her and she waved to the greatest wing girl ever.
