It was becoming painfully obvious to Nicole that she had been going to the wrong places all these years when she was looking for her Prince Charming. She had been sitting at her table for barely thirty minutes and she had already amassed six offers from decent-looking guys, three for drinks, two for dancing and one for something she would just as well not think about, thank you ever so much. Unfortunately for her she was in a relationship at present with Ralph.
Ralph was a seriously lackluster guy who made it quite clear to Nicole that it was not going to be exclusive, that he was going to do as he pleased and that she just better keep her trap shut about anything she didn't like because he didn't want to hear it. Yes, Nicole realized dejectedly, Ralph was a selfish, crass, inconsiderate and obnoxious boyfriend, but a boyfriend none the less and she didn't really think she could do better. Of course, she was starting to rethink her position as she saw another guy approaching her.
"Oh, here comes lucky number seven now," she mumbled to herself.
"Hello. I don't remember seeing you in here before," said Mr. # Seven with a smile to knock the stars out of the sky.
"That may be because I never have been here before," she said trying not to drool. This guy could replace Orlando Bloom as her favorite eye candy. Get a grip, Nicole, she admonished herself. You're not here for you, remember? You're Nancy's wing girl and besides you've got Ralph waiting for you.
"That's not quite right," a voice in her head told her. Ralph had said that he was going out with his friends and that she was not invited which only meant one thing. They were going to a strip club. Thinking of that made her teeth set to grinding. She just realized she had been staring transfixed at Mr. # Seven. She quickly blinked feeling quite embarrassed.
"Mind if I sit?" Mr. # Seven asked politely.
"I'm sorry but before you start with your usual pick-up lines, I already have a ...a boyfriend." It just about killed her to have to admit this to the Adonis before her but she was nothing if not honest, her worst fault, or so everyone told her.
He smiled all the more and sat down saying, "One can never have too many friends." Surely a boyfriend would have been enough to put the guy off but then, thought she, with a smile like that he needn't be put off by anything. She shrugged at his comment and saw to her horror that he was staring at her. It disconcerted her more than a little bit.
"Do I have something on my face?" she
