How to throw a karaoke party

LET'S THROW A KARAOKE PARTY!

First thing you need to do is get your guest list together.
Invitations can be made out of old sheet music or blank C D's that can be purchased at a office supply.

Theme parties are nice and props are really fun. A cowboy hat, a kiddie guitar, very large sunglasses, wigs, boas, tambourine and a cane. Place these on a table close to the microphone.

You will need a karaoke machine and songs, microphone and someone to play D.J.
Song lists and sign up to sing sheets are also needed.

Food, beverage and decorations for your party area should have the night club theme. Suggestions would be: Posters of country western singers, rock singers or the oldie singers or a combination. Disco lights, or strobe lights. A punch made with or without alcohol served in musical cups(at party store) or buckets with iced bottles on tables with pop or beer maybe with your favorite liquor. Paper paint buckets can be used and decorated with notes or song titles.

Food can be finger foods veggie trays served in cymbal or cowboy hat. Chips and dips served in a ole guitar or violin case, (check your local thrift stores and flea markets for musical items that can be used for your party. Let your imagination run wild.

Everyone can get a name of a singer pinned to their back upon arrival. If they sing a song that is sung by that artist during the course of the party, they receive a prize.
No one is to tell the name on their back, you remember this game from school don't you?

Arrange seating area so that everyone can see the star, and the staging area. If your friends are shy try a few group songs (like a piano bar) till they unwind, or a few games like musical chairs or name that tune, give $1 store prizes. If they still have not warmed up do a round of secret entertainer. Everyone signs up someone they think could sing like (name a artist) a name is drawn from the hat and the gong show begins, 3 judges a gong and they rate 1-10. Fun and funny. (Try this with a fund-raiser party and use $1 for votes(all votes going to a favorite charity). Another fun game is stump the singer. Just pick a song at random and the star sings with help from the audience.

Your Karaoke party will be really fun. Prizes, awards, and maybe the dirty sock award for the GRAND PRIZE. Can I come over?
