Poetry: Struggle in life

by Michael Severance

Created on: July 18, 2007

The beauty of defeat

Beat me down
If you let me live this high
Stunted I would be
In my quest for knowledge
and robbed of that edge
That makes me the dueler
The competitor
Of life. Against life. For life.
Leave me hungry
For then I become the man I want to be
Abandon me for greed
Pardon me, while I digress
That such a man
Never knows he is being such a man
Until it is too late.
Never allow me to swim alone
In an ocean of ignorance
