How to choose the best location for your new business

Just how do you decide on what will be probably one of the most significant decisions you'll make for your business. Choosing the best location for your business may mean the success or failure of your business and whether or not you'll be trotting to get your old job back within a year. Fear not! With some careful thought and research, you'll be able to make this decision with success!

1) Does the location provide the right kind of traffic you need for your business? People who want your product are the kind of traffic flow you need.

2) Does the location provide any traffic for your business? If the location doesn't draw a lot of people to it, then how will you make your sales? One thing to note is that perhaps your business doesn't or shouldn't only rely on the traffic flow of your business location

3) Is there ample parking for your customers? If parking is a struggle, lost customers could be the norm. People want convenience as well as satisfaction.

4) Can you afford the cost of the location without breaking your business budget? Your business plan or accountant should help you determine just what you can afford.

5) Is the neighborhood expanding or growing? A growing neighborhood brings a growing pool of customers.

6) Consult with a professional and/or your business team. Getting the input of others will help you to see things that you normally wouldn't see.

7) Rely on your intuition. Is it telling you that this is the right place for you or screaming loudly, "RUN! RUN! RUN!" Give rise to intuition but also back it up with some research on the potential of this area.

Making this decision will take some time to do. There's research and many other factors that impact the location and success of your business. Sometimes this means that you must get creative with ways to draw your clientele into your storefront and not rely only on the traffic of the location. Just don't position yourself to be limited. Remember, you are the success behind your business!
